Regional Council Meeting
December 9, 2002
H. Richard Adams Conference Center
Vice Chairman Larry Lackey opened the meeting.
Larry introduced Pat Sobrero of the State Council. Pat briefly discussed the
council plan.
Howard Simmons discussed Legislative Day, which will be February 26th
in Jefferson City. Howard reported that there are 13 new State Senators and 13
new State Representatives and that MECCLC would have people there talking to the
newly elected Senators and Representatives to let them know how important
extension funding is.
Tony DeLong and Sandy Stegall distributed handouts and discussed Local
Council Development.
Mark discussed the new web page and asked for input on it usefulness.
Mark discussed the budget and how it stood as of 12-30-02. There are 56
vacant positions.
Mark and Tony reviewed a handout that discussed revenue generation.
Mark discussed regional staffing and distributed handouts. It was approved
that he could move forward on the Howard County Livestock position. Following
Mark’s presentation, Larry asked about getting groups together to discuss
different options.
A motion was made by Sherry Kempf to discuss re-staffing at the next council
meeting. Don Schnieders seconded the motion and it passed following a vote.
The meeting adjourned at 9:40 pm.
