Clinton County Ag Update Scheduled Feb 22 The Clinton County Ag Update will be held Wednesday, February 22, at the Courthouse Meeting Room in Plattsburg. The morning program will contain a discussion of nitrogen fertilizer management, results from corn replant decisions and other test information conducted at the Graves-Chapple Farm. This information will be presented by Wayne Flanary, Regional Agronomist. At 10:00 AM, growers needing to recertify to get their private pesticide applicator licenses or obtain new a new license can attend this portion of the meeting. The training will include a new product update, rust update information from southern USA and soybean aphids, sericea lespedeza control, eastern red cedar control and other important topics. After the Private Applicator Training, we will break for lunch. Lunch will be on your own. The afternoon program will being with Bob Kelly, Ag Business Specialist, discussing way to determine fair value of cash rent rates. Also, he will show a computer tool that can assist anyone in looking at crop returns and expenses. Selecting corn hybrids and an update on soybean inoculants will be handled by Bruce Burdick, Superintendent of the Hundley-Whaley Farm. This is practical information that can be used on your operation. An update on the Quality System Assessment (QSA) will be handled by Jim Humphrey, Livestock Specialist. Producers have many questions regarding this. Jim Crawford, Ag and Natural Resource Engineer will be discussing tillage costs and returns.
