Countywide 4-H Projects

Clinton County Current County Wide Project Leaders/Projects

(We welcome more leaders to help combine resources to make the best opportunities for our 4-H members—-Please step up and volunteer to lead a County Wide Project!  Contact the Extension Office—816-539-3765)

In looking for project leaders in each county, please consider networking with the rest of 4-H county members to enhance our programs and maximize the talents of our project leaders.

Suggested state guidelines recommend that programs be “county” programs rather than “club” programs.  One reason is that of leader recruitment.  The best programs in Missouri are run as county programs.  County programs allow leaders to specialize in a discipline rather than a leader having to cross certify in several disciplines in order to meet the needs of 4-H members.  County programs also allow for coordination of resource development -cash or equipment.  Instructors in county-wide programs are also less likely to “burn out”.  In addition, a county program relies on several leaders and is therefore more easily maintained from year to year.  This is especially true in our shooting sports programs.  We need participants in both Clinton and Caldwell county at the State Shooting Sports Leader Training as we have more youth enrolled in these project areas than available leaders!  Please consider attending yourself or recruit!!!

As you think about the possible projects YOU can lead, invite other talented individuals in our community to have this opportunity to work with our wonderful kids!  And don’t forget to get their volunteer form completed and turned in to our office.

This is a general guide to 4-H projects led by leaders and available to all members within the county.  Members must be enrolled in the appropriate project and maintain member in good standing with their respective club.  The project meetings are in addition to club responsibilities.

Members cannot take the project shooting sports unless with a certified leader in their shooting discipline.

Parents:  We need more certified leaders—this is a great and popular project but requires specialized training.  Please consider taking this training which is offered both in the fall and spring.

Members will be contacted by the leaders for meetings.

Sport Fishing

Norman Smith

Dog Obedience and showing skills

Theresa Fordyce

This is all we have committed at this point….Please help and let’s create lots more county-wide projects.  I can think of several right now which would be terrific, but I need your help to make the contacts with the community resources and get their commitment to help our 4-H kids.  We can do so much more together!
