Health and Nutrition Resources for Northeast Missouri Food Power - is a new program offered by University of Missouri Extension to elementary schools in Missouri. The Food Power curriculum brings food and physical activity together in a fun and exciting way. Students start at the farm and learn where the food they eat comes from and follow the path to see how it gives them energy to grow and play. Schools using the Food Power curriculum commit to incorporating Food Power classroom activities into their nutrition teaching, provide a 30 X 30 space, adult volunteers to set up, present and take down the Food Power Adventure walk-through, interactive exhibit. Health for Every Body - University of Missouri Extension is offering a unique program, "Health For Every Body: Beyond Scales and Mirrors", that helps people stop dieting and start living in a healthy way. The program moves the focus away from obsession with weight and calories and towards eating well, living actively, and learning how to respect and appreciate your body and self. The "Health for Every Body" program teaches a whole new way of looking at your body, yourself, and your health. If you are fed up with diets and dieting, then this program can help you. The program consists of four, 2 hour sessions. There is a recovery fee for this program. Sports Nutrition - This program addresses important health topics related to athletics and physical activity. Topics include: Safety and efficiency of performance enhancing supplements; Healthy eating and hydration for optimal athletic performance; Weight gain and weight loss; Eating disorders. If you are a parent or coach and are concerned about these issues for athletes please consider this program. Food Safety - Over 76 million Americans are affected by food poisoning each year. Learn how you can help keep food safe through University of Missouri Extension.
