Social Security

The Social Security System was designed to provide a "floor of protection" for retired workers, and for workers and their families who face a loss of income due to disability or the death of a family wage earner. Social Security payments are made to those people that have worked and have paid into the system. Payments received depend upon number of years worked and income.
