Social Security Sending Information

Important Social Security information will start arriving in your mailboxes in October. The Social Security Administration plans to stagger the mailing of 125 million individual statements to wage earners over 25 to arrive within three months of their birthday. The statements, which used to be mailed only upon request, are a 4 page compilation of each recipient’s wage history; the precise retirement, disability and other benefit amounts for which he or she might qualify; and a list of resources to get more information or other help.

These statements are important because they’re virtually the only source of some key numbers needed to calculate potential retirement income or insurance needs. Secondly, reviewing this statement regularly is the best way to catch and correct errors. Social Security will send your statement immediately by calling 1-800-772-1213.
