More Problems with Long Distance Question: I have received phone charges from a company I never heard of or requested. How can I have the charges removed, find out how they were able to make charges to my bill and ensure its not done again? Answer: Phone bills should be reviewed monthly for names of companies and services not requested. Be careful you are not signing up for phone services or to switch long distance providers when you sign up for sweepstakes or contests. Some may authorize a company to add charges to your bill. If you are billed for a service you did not request, call the phone number listed on your statement, refuse to pay the charges and insist the charges be reversed. Then call your local phone company and make a formal complaint and make sure the charges are removed from your statement. Source: Dollar, P. Talking dollars makes sense (UE photocopy). |
