Money and Consequences
All too often individuals feel that money is a taboo subject.
There is a difference between threatening family members if they behave in a certain way and helping them understand what could happen as the result of their behavior. A better approach is to let the individual know what could happen if he/she continues with a poor financial practice and outline the benefits of adopting a more sound financial practice.
Preaching and judging others actions are natural human tendencies, but are among the least effective ways to get your point across. Making someone feel guilty seldom causes behavior changes. Preaching and judging can do damage to self esteem without improving financial actions. Other times, preaching will turn the intended receiver off to a message, no matter how valid it is.
