Off Season Home Buying

While spring and summer are the seasons commonly associated with home buying and selling, the winter months provide unique benefits. Generally only the most serious potential buyers are out looking so the seller doesn’t have recreational lookers to deal with. If you are interested in selling your home this winter, there are a few things you can do to make your home more marketable. Sufficient internal and external lighting is important because of waning daylight hours, and serves to make your home appear warm and inviting. Proper lighting enables the prospective buyers to locate house numbers and view the exterior of the home. A well heated house may raise the utility bills a little but will make a potential buyer feel more comfortable and stay longer. Being home can be detrimental during a showing but if you are present, make sure any fire places are crackling with a toasty fire. Finally, to insure accessibility, make sure any snow is shoveled from the walks and driveway.
