High School Financial Planning Program

Each year 1.5 billion advertising dollars are spent selling to kids. Kids spend between $70-100 billion of their own money and influence even more parental spending. And of the 1.3 million bankruptcies last year, 8.7% were filed by those younger than 25 years old.

It is essential in our fast-moving economically-based society to have some knowledge of the fundamentals of financial planning. The High School Financial Planning program has been developed to alert, inform and educate high school students on this very topic.

The High School Financial Planning program is being implemented across the nation. Is it in your high school yet? The program, developed by the National Endowment for Financial Education, is offered in partnership with the Cooperative Extension System. Contact your local extension center for more information.
