Learn From Mistakes (2)

Someone once said if we aren’t making mistakes then we wouldn’t be making anything. Although some mistakes are costly or irreparable, we can and do recover from most. "We do not measure success by how many we make, but rather by how quickly we recover from them," says Don Taylor, business columnist. If we’re alert, even minor errors can teach valuable lessons. First, don’t allow the fear of making a mistake paralyze your progress. That fear can eliminate many opportunities for personal gain. Once you accept the fact that you do make mistakes, move forward and accept the challenge. Your success now hinges on learning the lesson. Why did the error occur? What elements were responsible? How can you avoid similar errors in the future? If you make the same mistake twice, put the lesson in writing. Answer those three questions and place the answers where you will be reminded not to repeat the steps which led to the error.
