Life Balance

What are the symptoms of unbalance? Richard and Linda Eyre, in their book Life balance, suggest:

  1. People who live to work rather than work to live.
  2. People who are too busy Agetting there" to enjoy the journey.
  3. People who want to simplify, get back to the basics and slow down - but never get around to doing so.
  4. People who see their kids growing up, and their own lives passing by, too fast.

As family members and professionals, routine demands engulf the day leaving little time for enjoyment. Colleague Mary Beth Carr has the following strategies to help find a balance.

  1. Set goals and rearrange your life so that more time is spent on high priority items
  2. Learn to say "no" and exercise greater control over your life.
  3. Work smarter - not harder. Be creative and find ways to make your jobs easier.
