Research has shown that, following any tragedy or disaster, people tend to engage in community development activities; not just to address the effects of the disaster, but to regain a sense of empowerment and control. As America deals with war and threats of terrorism, communities have an opportunity to grow in their understanding and to address local impacts and implications of terrorist activities. The University of Missouri Extension Community Development Program is committed to helping communities increase their learning and their ownership in building a safe and prosperous future for themselves and fellow Missourians.
