Creating jobs and community capacity

The Community Development Program works collaboratively with communities to foster economic development and create capacity for sustainable communities and quality jobs through leadership development, community decision making, community emergency preparedness and focusing on inclusive communities.

Results and impact reported by last year's Community Development Program participants:

  • $10.8 million grants and other resources acquired by communities and organizations
  • $1.54 million reported value of programs initiated/completed by communities and organizations
  • $309,862 in volunteer hours generated by CD Extension to conduct programs
  • $471,372 in volunteer hours generated by communities and organizations as result of programs
  • 379 participants took on new leadership roles
  • 77 community and organizational plans developed
  • 119 community/organizational programs and activities initiated or completed
  • 24 community and organizational policies/plans adopted and/or implemented
  • 43 new nonprofit organizations created
  • 95 percent would recommend our programs to others
