Global Leadership Education (GLE) Program Announces a NEW Study Tour to Thailand! November 3-16, 2007

A unique opportunity to explore how Thai community-based entrepreneurship facilitates local  economic development, preservation of culture and quality of life.

Are you working to make a difference in creating and fostering regional and community economic development?  Then this study tour is for YOU!

A small group of 12  participants will  see first-hand a successful program for community-based entrepreneurship.  Visit policy makers as well as local villages and towns to see how communities are enhancing local and regional economic development through an innovative program called OTOP, One Tambon One Product (a Tambon is local government unit  translates to “subdistrict.”)   The study tour will explore how participants might bring some of these ideas back to the growing efforts of community-based entrepreneurship in Missouri!

The tour will focus on strategies to: 

Create and foster local entrepreneurship through networks and partnerships.

Convert local assets into a sustainable economy including  regional branding and product identification   .

Stimulate creative local leadership and innovation to develop strong networks of community and regional partnerships.

The Tour will be led by Dr. Sandra Hodge, Director, Global Leadership Education, and Dr. Mary Leuci, Assistant Dean and Community Development Program Director, University of  Missouri Extension along with the experienced staff of our co-host, the Community  Development  Department of the Royal Thai Government. 

IMPORTANT!!

• Participants will be selected through an application process (see below for application download)

• All applicants must have  a passport valid for AT  LEAST six months from their return date and one blank page remaining

• Visas are not required  for stays less than 30 days
