Position Summary |
This position will assist and mentor faculty and students in business and
technology start-ups. Duties will be to effectively work with
researchers campus-wide on SBIR/STTR and commercialization issues,
within all disciplines, assist faculty, staff, and private sector
companies pursuing SBIR/STTR grant funding, with planning and
commercialization of technology, including accessing seed and venture
capital, and conducting market research for potential commercialization.
The primary business focus is with Missouri based business entities.
Coordinate resources to assist faculty, staff, and clients to
commercialize innovations, including working closely with constituents
throughout the University and at the local, regional, state, and federal
levels. Develop relationships with faculty and staff at SBIR/STTR
agencies, providing leadership and expertise for high impact programs,
to include Phase I and II submission assistance. Work with
technology and SBIR/STTR applicants to address a variety of issues that
enable clients to assess, prepare, and manage SBIR proposals.
Develop and conduct educational sessions on SBIR/STTR research,
commercialization, and technology business development. Connect
Missouri businesses with UMR faculty research to enhance SBIR funding
opportunities and program knowledge. Market SBIR/STTR programs and
services, including the UMR SBTDC, to internal and external agencies and
partners. Prepare reports to document degree of effort and
successes. Assisting students in various competitions as developed
with OTCED. |
Qualifications |
Minimum Qualifications: Earned bachelor's
degree in business or an equivalent combination of education and
experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is
necessary. A master's degree or higher is preferred. Four to five years experience in business management or government contracting or a combination of both, including small business operations is necessary. The successful candidate needs to have a working knowledge of Small
Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR)
Grants. |
