LOCATION: Columbia, Missouri
SUMMARY
The Missouri Market Development Program (MMDP) assists small and large businesses in obtaining and performing state government financial incentives grants for the development of end-use markets for recovered materials. MMDP Specialists help clients identify opportunities and understand the government granting process in order to take advantage of government financial incentives.
This position is responsible for providing consultations with clients as well as delivering educational seminars on recycling markets, materials recovery, buying recycled materials and related topics to Missouri businesses. The position is located at on the Columbia campus of the University of Missouri.

Characteristic Duties
40% Provide client counseling for state government financial incentives grant assistance for the purchase of manufacturing or processing equipment used to in the production of recycled-content products.
20% Provide technical assistance for businesses, governments and other organizations to increase manufacturing and purchasing of recycled-content products. This assistance may be in the areas of equipment bids, marketing, site visits, and referrals.
20% Provide client with federal, state, and local government procurement assistance to encourage government use of recycled-content products manufactured in Missouri. Conduct educational offerings focused on recycled materials market development and recycled-content product procurement to potential stakeholders, including lenders, economic developers and chambers through memberships, speaking engagements or collaboration on training events and other projects.
10% Seek out and develop external funding to enhance existing and future programs, including fees, grants, and contracts.
5% Document, analyze, and communicate program impact, including entering data into Softshare to record conferences, counseling sessions, and contract awards.
5% Attend seminars, conferences, and workshops to ensure that professional development and program knowledge are current. Participate on committees, task forces, and teams engaged in program development, planning, and/or delivery.
Must be able to travel using own vehicle throughout Missouri to fulfill essential responsibilities of position.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.
Accountability
Administrative supervision is received from the University of Missouri Environmental Assistance Center Director. Program leadership is from the Missouri Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority.

Minimum Qualifications – as defined by MU Classification
A master’s degree in business or a related area with appropriate coursework is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience exhibiting procurement skills and recycling industry knowledge.
