Project Manager (Extension Associate CASPP)
Position Description

Summary

The Center on Adolescent Sexuality, Pregnancy and Parenting and ParentLink, are dedicated to helping Missouri’s families provide safe, healthy, and nurturing environments for their children. Education is provided to families through the combined efforts of dedicated and degreed faculty and staff, and community resources focused on benefiting families.  

This position is responsible for managing and implementing the day-to-day programming needs for the newly-funded 1.7 M, 5 year, Health and Human Services grant project, “Connecting for Children”.  Program components include retreats, hour-long trainings and WarmLine services related to relationship development and family support to families involved with Head Start programs in Central Missouri.   

The project manager will be responsible to co-directors, initiating and assisting with all elements of project implementation, including working with regional and campus Extension personnel, Head Start staff, subcontractors, consultants and volunteers.

Characteristic Duties

40%    Identify and determine educational training needs to build capacity for Head Start families to build their relationship and strengthen parenting skills; determine needs, develop educational programs, deliver training, and prepare other educators to deliver programs. Responsible for ensuring logistics of meetings and trainings are coordinated. 

35%    Assist in making decisions on sound research-based materials to include in program delivery; guide writing and graphics as requested by the co-directors and advisory committee.  Write/edit materials as needed. Be open to and follow through on creative ideas, assist in the project design, assist in writing, editing, and printing materials.   

10%    Develop and implement project protocols that are 1)consistent with  sound theory, research, and best practices;  2) contribute to future replication and consistency, and 3) support compliance with IRB, funder commitments, MU and MU Extension formal and informal rules/ guidelines. 

05%    Work with research evaluators to collect and understand parent/couple data that indicates client outcomes. Analyze needs to assess client outcomes and the affect that has on educational program offerings. Stay current with the research-based relationship and parenting literature, professionals, and community resources, especially related to low-income unwed couples who are parenting. In addition, contribute to scholarly articles on related topics and provide presentations as requested. 

05%    Facilitate a project-related advisory board and serve on other coalition boards to enhance partnerships between ParentLink and other family service organizations. In addition, may represent the University of Missouri at local, state, regional and national meetings.   

05%    Other as necessary, including Teach and guide bachelor and masters-level students to work with this project. Plan, present and/or participate in special educational events and educational seminars. Distribute materials and arrange for public education messages to be broadcasted statewide.

Accountability

This position reports to the Director of CASPP and the Director of ParentLink. 

Leadership Responsibilities

Functional supervision may be exercised over research and office support personnel. 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's minimum (Master's Preferred) in Human Development and Family Studies, Social Work, Education Counseling & Psychology, Nutrition, or a related area at the time of appointment.   

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Two years experience preferred in program management or related activities. 

Experience working with children and families. 

Training and/or experience with sensitive human interaction and child/family support services, including working with vulnerable family situations. 

Demonstrated competence and ability to manage multi-year, applied educational program. 

Experience providing training, including developing and implementing training programs.
