4-H Youth Educator
Position
Description
Summary
To participate in the planning, management and support of 4-H Youth Development programs in St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve and Washington counties under the guidance of the 4-H Youth Development faculty.
Characteristic Duties
30% Coordinate and implement the 4-H Volunteer Management system, including positively collaborates with advisory councils and committees to ensure effective and efficient recruitment and leadership of volunteers.
20% Provide program leadership for planning, implementing and evaluating 4-H youth development programs, including teaching youth development content and selected subject matter; manage 4-H educational events, contests and programs; build and enhance relationships and programs with existing partners; continue programming on grants and contracts; expand community partnerships; and generate revenue to support and expand programs.
20% Provide supervision to assigned employees including participate in the selection, orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of selected paid staff including 4-H program associates and assistants, clerical support staff, work study students, etc.
15% Communicate program impact and accomplishments by maintaining information in the MU Extension WebApps system. In addition, perform record keeping and data entry as necessary, including reviewing data in the 4-H Blue Ribbon system.
10% Participate in training and development opportunities appropriate for the position, such as child abuse and neglect policies, CPR, technology, and other skills appropriate for the position.
05% Ensure compliance with federal requirements for using 4-H name and clover emblem.
Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.
Supervision Received
Leadership and supervision is received from the Regional Director.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 24 hours of upper-level coursework in one or more of the domains of the 4-H Professional Research, Knowledge and Competencies (PRKC) taxonomy for youth development. Domains are youth and adult development, learning strategies and education, organizational systems and resource management, community partnerships and volunteerism.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Ability to understand, synthesize and communicate relevant information to diverse audiences.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision in an unstructured setting.
Ability to effectively use information technology including a variety of Windows-based computer software programs.
