Extension Associate (FNEP Assistant Coordinator)

Position Summary

The Family Nutrition Education Programs (FNEP) collectively serve over 250,000 participants annually.  It is critical to the daily operation of this large program to have someone to monitor daily operations and assist with the statewide training of the 175-plus faculty, paraprofessionals, and staff.  This position will work directly with the Co-PIs of the grants that fund FNEP. This position is contingent upon grant funding, which is expected but not guaranteed.  

Characteristic Duties

50%    Assist FNEP Administrator and State Coordinator in the delivery and maintenance of daily program operations.  This may include, but is not limited to, grant preparation; award submission and selection; acquisition and distribution of nutrition reinforcement items; meeting coordination; and other items as needed. 

40%    Coordinate the overall training efforts of the Family Nutrition Education Programs.  This may include, but is not limited to, revision of current training materials; production of new subject matter training materials; coordination of statewide training opportunities. 

10%    Assist in reporting program accomplishments and impacts. Develop written report to communicate accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders. 

This position reports to the FNEP State Coordinator and FNEP Administrator.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, health, dietetics, exercise physiology or related field.  Master’s degree preferred.  Leadership and teamwork expertise, effective verbal and written communication skills, detail orientation and competence in computer use essential.  Familiarity with distance communication technology is desirable.  Strong commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable families is essential.  A willingness to travel to regional sites throughout the state to monitor and deliver training as needed.  

Travel throughout the Extension region is required.  Adhere to University policies and procedures.
