Produce Safety Alliance Growers Training

The University of Missouri Extension is offering a produce safety workshop to fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule and Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs). 

This workshop is approved for produce growers needing compliance for the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in §112.22(c) that states "At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration."

The workshop will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson, MO.  The office is located at 684 W Jackson Trail in Jackson, Missouri.

Cape Girardeau County Extension Council Scholarship Winner announced!

The Extension Council Scholarship for 2017 has been presented to Renee Peters from Gordonville, MO.  Renee received the scholarship at the Extension Council Picnic in August.

Marsha Birk received the State Youth Program Assistant Award for University of Missouri Extension.  Marsha is the YPA for Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties in Southeast Missouri.  Congratulations to Marsha!
