*NOV. 21 - 4-H CELEBRATION PARTY at 7:00 p.m. in the Extension Office – lower level. This party is to "Kick-Off" the new 4-H Year so if you are a "new" or "old" 4-H member (including Clover Kids) come one and all to celebrate another year in 4-H!! There will be lots of Dancing, Food, and Fun for everyone!! The club with the largest # attending will get a prize. Remember - if you have new families in your club be sure to call and invite them because they are not on our mailing list yet. BRING YOUR LOOSE CHANGE AS A FUND RAISER FOR UNITED WAY!!

MFA SADDLE AWARD DUE DATE JAN. 2 to the State 4-H Office so please turn into the Extension Office by Dec. 18.

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION: You are invited to the upcoming Volunteer Orientations scheduled for the following date: - Mon. Jan. 25 at 7:00 at the Extension Office in Jackson. Deadline for Vol. Orientation Completion is Jan. 29, 2010!! If you are a new parent to 4-H this is a one time requirement you must complete to be a project leader, Club Leader, or help with activities in your own 4-H club. Remember you can also do the training on-line or check out a CD from the Extension office.

Attention: If you have signed up for a Project and have changed your mind or want to add Projects you can always call Maryann Garvey at the Extension Office at #243-3581 and make the necessary changes. You can still change projects even after you turn in your enrollment forms.

               

KANSAS CITY 4-H GLOBAL CONFERENCE
The Kansas City 4-H Global Conference will be held on March 17 -20, 2010 at the Airport Hilton in Kansas City. The cost is $270.00 for delegates. (The 4-H Council pays transportation expenses, $35.00 of participant fee, and $100.00 of chaperone fee) This conference is for youth age 15 and older who want to learn more about careers , technology, environment, and cultural diversity. Enjoy tours to Kansas City area businesses, corporations and service agencies that include the Kansas City Board of Trade, Black and Veatch Engineering, Hallmark, Federal Courthouse, Harley Davidson Motors, Nelson Atkins Art Museum and much more. Participate in workshops that focus on topics such as veterinary medicine, geoscience engineering, international careers, journalism, U.S. Secret Service, FBI careers, fashion, law, careers in NASA, business and much more.

Meet people from Denmark, Germany, Mexico, India, Japan, Gambia and points beyond at an Ethnic Enrichment Festival that includes ethnic food, dance, and crafts. A keynote presentation, dances and other activities round out the experience. This Conference is attended by 4-Hers from Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma & MO.

THIS IS THE BEST TRIP 4-H OFFERS!! EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO MISS 2 DAYS OF SCHOOL - THE BENEFITS ARE WORTH IT!! THIS TRIP OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES THAT 4-HERS WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ON ANY OTHER TRIP!! Due to a Missouri state law, public schools now excuse students to attend this 4-H educational event.

You do not register on-line as you have in the past but must fill out a paper copy of the registration forms (available at the Extension Office or at www.4h.missouri.edu/events/ globalconf/. REGISTRATION DUE DATE TO EXTENSION OFFICE IS MON. DEC. 7!!

 

STATE 4-H TEEN CONFERENCE: State 4-H Teen Conference is Feb. 6 – 7, 2010 in Columbia. This is for 4-H members 11 - 13 years old. Delegates to State 4-H Teen Conference learn about leadership opportunities in 4-H for teens, meet 4-Hers from around Missouri, explore the Univ. of Missouri Campus, and enjoy recreation. The cost is $129.00 and registration is due DECEMBER 7, 2009 to the Extension Office. Our very own Tyler Lappe & Kelly Jahn will be two of the Leaders at the Conference!!

. (FYI – You will learn more than about baking bread – they also learn to make pizza dough, doughnuts & pretzels). Of course, what you bake you must also eat so you get to end each meeting with eating the delicious treats that you just baked. (Remember – Donna loves "presents" left on her desk!! )
