Understanding and Marketing your Timber (Session 1 of 3)

Description:

This is a short course offering discussions over the understanding of timber stands and how they can be maintained on your farm for future success. We will discuss how timber works, how to improve it, how to calculate its worth, and how to go about marketing/selling it as well as receiving a fair price.

Session topic:

An in-depth look at your forests health, how your timber grows, and how it relates to your timber sales. Forestry 101 • Tree ID (only major species groups) • Forest Ecology (very basic) • Forest Health – Insect/Disease/Fire/Grazing/Invasive Species • Describing Your Woodland • Assessing Your Woodland
