Cooking Matters at the Store-Owensville

Description:

Cooking matters at the store is a grocery store tour focusing on purchasing good tasting, nutritious foods on a budget. After the tour, participants will be invited to take the 10 dollar challenge. Participants who participate in the 10 dollar challenge will be required to purchase ingredients for a nutritious meal for 10 dollars or less using a gift card. The meal must have items from at least 4 out of the 5 food groups. All participants will be allowed to keep their purchases.

Session topic:

Cooking Matters at the Store is a guided grocery store tour to help families buy healthy, affordable food. Participants will learn how to buy fruits and vegetables on a budget, compare unit prices to find bargains, and read food labels.
