Bright red tomatoes, colorful peppers, sweet juicy peaches and other fresh produce picked from your own garden, a farmers market or a nearby farm can be enjoyed all year long if preserved properly. This series of classes on home food preservation will teach the latest and safest ways to can, freeze and dry foods. Sign up for just one session or all five: June 5 Jam & Jellies, June 12 Freezing & Drying, June 19 Pressure Canning, July 17 Pickles and July 31 Canning Salsa & Fruit. Registration Deadlines: one week prior to class date.

Session topic:

Freezing and Drying: Freezing and drying are the newest and oldest methods of food preservation. This session will cover the basics of both methods, with an emphasis on freezing.


To register, make check payable to University Extension Council and mail to University of MO Extension, 260 Brown Road, St. Peters, MO 63376. Or call 636-970-3000 to pay with Visa, Master Card or Discover. Registration deadline is one week prior to class date.


$15 per session or $60 for all five. Price reduced to $10 per session for Master Gardeners and 4-H members and leaders.
