In FastTrac® NewVenture TM you will look at all aspects of your proposed company, exploring the feasibility of your business concept and learning how to develop a viable business plan. Participants will learn about start-up issues and learn to address the competition, legal matters, marketing and financial management aspects. FastTrac® participants don't just learn about business, they work on their own business endeavors throughout the course. This program is fast-paced and energizing, using guest speakers and lots of group breakout activities. This is a five day workshop with materials and lunch provided. Workshop dates are September 22-26, 2014, times 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily. Workshops are no cost to dislocated workers. The goal of the Advanced SSSH program is to increase on the fitness base acquired from SSSH by adding new and more challenging exercises. Advanced SSSH is designed to challenge older adults in new and different ways, to help avoid staleness and plateaus, and to improve activities of daily living. This program features exercises using resistance from body weight, hand weights, and ankle weights. It also features balance exercises, core exercises, low back exercises, and flexibility exercises.

Chronic Disease Self-Management -- Springfield (Session 6 of 6)

Description:

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is a community-based program which assists participants in maintaining quality of life when faced with chronic medical conditions. The CDSMP is provided in two and a half hour sessions, once a week for six weeks, in community settings (e.g. senior centers, churches, libraries). People with different chronic health problems attend together. Workshops are facilitated by two trained leaders, one or both of whom deal with chronic diseases themselves. Subjects covered include: 1) techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation, 2) appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance, 3) appropriate use of medications, 4) communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals, 5) nutrition, and 6) how to evaluate new treatments. Classes are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants' confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives.

Annie's Project--Education for Farm Women in Ironton (Session 4 of 6)

We are excited to announce this special opportunity for farm and ranch women near Ironton, MO! MU Extension and the Iron County Economic Partnership Jumpstart Program have teamed up to offer Annie's Project in Ironton.. but with a twist! Participants who complete business plans during class will have an opportunity to compete for $500 seed money awards. The top three plans will be awarded, with preference given to Iron County residents.

Annie's Project has helped more than 10,000 farm women from around the nation become better business partners and/or managers. You will learn how to manage risk in the areas of marketing, legal, human resource, financial and production. Some of the topics include financial documentation and analysis, marketing, estate planning, insurances, business planning and much more. Many farm women report that the most valuable part of the program is the networking with other women and professionals.
