University of Missouri Extension’s Family Nutrition Education Program and Price Cutter grocery stores have partnered to help teach customers about nutrition, food safety and food budgeting. Classes are held in the state-of-the-art Taste Culinary Arts classroom located inside the Price Cutter Store on the corner of Republic Road and Kansas Expressway in Springfield. Classes are 90 minutes long and consist of a lecture, discussion and a food demonstration with samples provided.

Eat Well Be Well with Diabetes includes four, two-hour weekly sessions that provides people with type 2 diabetes, and their family members, with knowledge and skills necessary for proper diabetes self-management. Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase middle age and older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches.
