2017 SEMO District Fair

When:  Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, 8 a.m. to Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, 9 p.m.

Description:

4-H members exhibit and display their projects during the SEMO District Fair. Events are held throughout the week. 4-Her's will show their animals starting at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning in their respective tents. Members will also sell their animals on Thursday night starting at 4:30 p.m. in the Livestock Arena.

There is a gate admission to entry the fair.

Probiotics and Prebiotics

Description:

You may have heard of probiotics and prebiotics, but do you know what they are? If you want to know more, join Sarah Wood, Registered Dietitian and MU Extension Nutrition Specialist for a look into the fascinating world of our microbiome. In this class, we will discuss the difference between pre- and probiotics and what they do for the body. We will also take a look at the food sources of each and sample a tasty recipe.

Gray-Campbell Farmstead 1860s Lifestyle Expo (Session 2 of 2)

Description:

Activities will include Apple Butter Making, Apple Cider Making, Open Hearth Cooking, Music, fiddle contest, Leathercrafting, Fiber Arts, Story Telling, a brush arbor meeting, dancing, historic tours and more. Lots of shade and educational fun for everyone at this historic farmstead. All four historical buildings will be open for touring, plus more demonstrations. The Gray/Campbell Farmstead is a not-for profit historic site dedicated to teaching younger generations about life in the 1860's. Come visit the historic homestead and learn about the earliest settlers of Springfield
