This is a low-impact strength training program for people who are 50 or better. The class meets for 1 hour, twice a week for 8 weeks to complete a series of eight exercises with a warm-up and cool down. This program helps participants increase their physical activity which may improve strength, balance and flexibility, resulting in reduced risk for falls, better overall health and greater independence.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is an eight-week strength training program for middle-aged and older adults. The program’s goal is to improve health and quality of life. The class will meet twice a week.

We will incorporate warm-up exercises; simple strengthening exercises, with or without weights; and cool down stretches. Weights are provided for the class. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring water bottle and towel.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Participants will complete a short warm-up, 8-10 strength training exercises, and a cool-down that includes stretching and deep breathing.
