The program utilizes the “arts” as a vehicle for community and economic development, while developing community capacity, and building strong community leaders around the arts.

MU Extension Community Arts Program provides art services through trainings, workshops and consulting for communities and individual artists with a focus on community arts. These include:

Creativity and Innovation - Engage in hands-on art making, creative problem solving and movement exercises that open creative thinking, and much more. Learn how to utilize—the ARTS, innovation and creativity—as strategies for economic and community development.
Community Engagement for Community Arts– Create an inventory to determine the community’s assets and strengths, brainstorm opportunities for innovative community arts projects, develop a preliminary vision and action plan, draw a skeleton plan with key items to move forward, collaboratively develop a proposal and action steps ready for funding.
What Works - for the Artist Entrepreneur – Artists, just like traditional small business owners, have to wear many hats. Learn the common behaviors of successful artist entrepreneurs and how to apply them to your own art practice.
