2017 Summer Blackberry Production Workshop

Description:

Blackberry production offers great potential for Missouri farmers. The Growing Blackberry Production and Sales in Missouri project includes blackberry production workshops in southwest Missouri and across the state, a demonstration blackberry planting at the MU Southwest Research Center in Mount Vernon that includes the rotating cross arm trellis and recently developed thornless blackberry cultivars, and blackberry promotional activities centered on the Webb City Farmers Market. Join the project team for upcoming workshops! The blackberry workshops focus on blackberry production through the growing season, with presentations and hands-on experience with new thornless cultivars and the innovative rotating cross arm trellis. Focus on Kids

Description:

This program helps divorced and separated parents learn how to support their children through the divorce process and how to work together in co-parenting their children. Focus on Kids satisfies the Missouri law that requires parents who are divorcing or filing a motion to modify the original divorce decree, or who have never been married but have filed a child custody case, to attend an educational parenting program.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 (Miller County) (Session 15 of 17)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 is a strength training program based on research by Tufts University to help men and women increase strength, flexibility and balance. Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 program is designed to provide access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program for middle age and older adults. During each session, a set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done, along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Cooking Matters at the Store (Virtual)

Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Missouri's Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults; access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Session topic:

Warm-up, 8 strength-training exercises, and a cool-down including stretches and deep-breathing exercises.

Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance

Description:

SMQA training is required for all 4-H and FFA livestock participants to exhibit at the SEMO District Fair and the MO State Fair: beef, dairy, swine, sheep, goats, poultry, rabbits. Youth ages 8 to13 by January 1 of the program year should participate in two consecutive years of the training. A refresher course must be taken once youth have turned 14 by January 1 of the program year. If you need to check the status of your SMQA training please contact the Extension Office.
