Starting and Managing a Small Business (Session 1 of 2)

Are you thinking about starting and managing a small business in Missouri? Designed for individuals who are considering starting a business, have made the decision to startor who have been in business for less than two years, this program will discuss: The basics of business ownership, planning for successs, organizational forms of business, legal and regulatory environment, recordkeeping and information management, marketing, financing and resources. Program is offered in collaboration with the Small Business and Technology Development Center. Class Dates: two consecutive Saturdays, 6/21/2014 and 6/28/2014. Class fee is $59.00 payable to St. Louis Community College.

Wednesday, June 11
Livestock and showmanship pre-entry forms due to Cedar County Extension Office
Thursday, June 19
11:00 a. m. Non-Livestock entries check-in begins.
Attach entry tags and complete summary sheet.
1:00 p. m. Non-Livestock entries check-in ends; area closed for judging.
5:00 p.m. Rabbit and Poultry check-in begins.
6:00 p.m. All rabbits and poultry must be in place.
7:00 p.m. Rabbit show begins. Poultry show will begin after Rabbit show.
Friday, June 20
4:00 p.m. Livestock (Breeding and Market Animals) Check-In begins. All animals will be inspected by species chair prior to unloading.
6:00 p.m. All livestock must be in place.
6:30 p.m. Livestock weigh-in begins.
8:00 p.m. Exhibitor Meeting in Arena
8:15 p.m. Exhibitors Social
Saturday, June 21
8:00 a.m. Livestock Classes judged in the following order:
Swine, Sheep, Meat Goats, Dairy Goats, Dairy and Beef
3:00 p.m. Non-sale animals will be released upon the completion of the Market Steer Show.
5:00 p.m. Checkout for non-livestock exhibits. Premiums will be mailed the following week.
6:00 p.m. All non-livestock projects must be removed from area
6:30 p.m. Livestock auction buyer’s social
6:45 p.m. Awards and Trophies presented
7:00 p.m. Livestock auction begins. Auction animals will be released at the end of the sale. Premiums will be mailed the following week.
10:00 p.m. All exhibits must be off the fairgrounds.

Registration:

Entries other than non-livestock must by received at the Cedar County Extension office no later than Wednesday, June 11, 2014 to guarantee pen space. Entries received after Wednesday, June 11 will not be guaranteed pen space.
Non-livestock entries are to be listed on the proper form and submitted Wednesday, June 11, 2014 by 4:00 p. m.

Oregon County Extension Benefit Fish Fry

Description:

The Oregon County Extension Center will be hosting a fish fry fundraiser. The catfish dinner will be served between 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at the Multi-Purpose building on the Alton School campus. The dinner costs $8 and we encourage folks planning to attend to purchase their ticket in advance. The fundraiser dinner will help fund future programming in our community. Extension is dedicated and committed in helping educate people on almost anything.
In addition to the dinner, “Hard Knox” band will take center stage as the musical entertainment for the evening. The band, made up of local artists, performs a wide variety of music.
Please come out and support your local Extension Center. When you support Extension, you help improve lives, communities and economies locally.
