Interstate Exchange Trip to Broadwater County, Montana

Description:
Franklin and Jefferson County 4-H teens and adult volunteers will spend a week staying with 4-H families in Broadwater County, Montana as the first part of a two-year Interstate Exchange.

Description:
University of Missouri Extension, in conjunction with Saint Paul’s Lutheran School, will be offering two food preservation workshops in June. Megan Webb, nutrition and health education specialist for MU Extension, will serve as facilitator, providing hands-on demonstrations concerning food safety during preservation and methods for achieving the highest quality. The first workshop will be held June 14 and will cover freezing fruits and vegetables; water bath canning; salsas, jams, and jellies. The second will take place on June 21 with topics discussed being food dehydration and pressure canning vegetables. The workshops will include live demonstrations and sample products. Both workshops will be held at Saint Paul’s Lutheran School gymnasium kitchen and will run from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Participants may attend either one or both of the workshops. In order to assure adequate supplies, registration is required by June 11, 2012.
