Description:

This 2-session (June 17 and 19, 2014), three-hour offering is for current and future business owners and entrepreneurs who have some knowledge of writing a business plan and want to get the ideas out of their head an onto paper. "The Basics of Writing a Business Plan Workshop" is designed for business owners and managers who need to know how to create a business plan for their organization and want to get started so the plan can be a useful management tool. During this course, participants will learn the importance of business plans, the key required elements of a basic plan and data that must be included. Participants will also get tips on writing style to make the business plan easier to understand and more professional in appearance. It will also provide guidelines for style and appearance to help create a professional look for your business plan. The Business Counselor will help you examine your individual situation, explore opportunities and discover new ideas. She will also help stimulate ideas when you're stuck and provide feedback to help you create a viable and useful business plan. You'll learn from other participants and have a host of valuable resources available to you.

The goal of the Advanced SSSH program is to increase on the fitness base acquired from SSSH by adding new and more challenging exercises. Advanced SSSH is designed to challenge older adults in new and different ways, to help avoid staleness and plateaus, and to improve activities of daily living. This program features exercises using resistance from body weight, hand weights, and ankle weights. It also features balance exercises, core exercises, low back exercises, and flexibility exercises.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (Session 8 of 10)

Description:

SSSH is modeled after the evidenced-based StrongWomen program developed by researchers at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science at Tufts University. While the original Tufts program includes only women, University of Missouri Extension has adapted the curriculum to include men.

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase aging adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Over the 10 weeks, participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Franklin & Gasconade County 4-H Camp

Franklin & Gasconade County 4-H Camp held at Camp Derricotte in Cuivre River State Park is open to all 4-H members and their friends age 8-14 on December 31, 2013.
Campers participate in fun activities including making crafts, exploring hands-on activities, swimming, playing games and singing fun songs, meeting new friends, learning about our environment, and more. All the while campers will be developing social skills and building confidence in their ability to take care of themselves. Add traditional camp ceremonies to the mixture, and you have the perfect recipe for summer fun!

Campers stay in cabins with other kids about the same age. This allows campers to stay in a cabin with their friends. Daytime activity groups (color groups to experienced campers) will be divided by age as well. That will allow kids to stay with their friends all day, and still meet other kids in the county that share their interests. All of the campers will be together for evening activities, meals, and special programs.

Camp Derricotte facilities include a full size swimming pool and comfortable cabins with showers and restrooms in the cabin. Campers are supervised by Franklin County and Gasconade County 4-H Staff, 4-H teens, Adult Cabin Advisors, and 4-H Camp Staff, including a health aide, and two certified lifeguards.

Homebuyer Education

Bright red tomatoes, colorful peppers, sweet juicy peaches and other fresh produce picked from your own garden, a farmers market or a nearby farm can be enjoyed all year long if preserved properly. This series of classes on home food preservation will teach the latest and safest ways to can, freeze and dry foods. Pressure Canning: Take the fear out of using a pressure canner by attending this session. Learn how to safely can vegetables, meats, poultry, fish and mixed foods like soups and sauces.
