Franklin County Master Gardener Garden Tour

When:  Saturday, June 14, 2014, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gardens featured on the tour are located in Washington, Union, St. Clair, Catawissa and Villa Ridge.

The Franklin County Master Gardener Garden Tour will feature 8 gardens. This is an opportunity to meet and learn from Master Gardeners and gain new insight into landscape design and gardening.

Tickets for the garden tour can be purchased from Franklin County Master Gardeners, the University of Missouri Extension Center in Union, Platt Nursery in Union, Hillermann Nursery in Washington or R&R Family Center in St. Clair. Growing Growers Workshop - Introduction to Small Fruit Production

Description:

Growing Growers program is an apprenticeship program sponsored by the K-State Research and Extension, University of Missouri Extension, Lincoln University Cooperative Extension, Cultivate Kansas City and Kansas City Food Circle. Apprentices work on local, sustainably-run farms, where they experience the day-to-day operations of a farm. The apprenticeship program gives new farmers/growers an opportunity to receive hands-on experience. They attend workshops and farm tours, meet new and experienced farmers, receive textbooks and on-the-job and formal training from their host farmers.

Session topic:

The workshop will cover basic principals of production of Blueberries, Blackberries and Strawberries. It will also cover a new invasive pest-spotted wing drosophila.

More than half of all marriages end in divorce, and the majority of these involve children. Conflict between parents, both before and after a divorce, is associated with many negative outcomes in children. The purpose of this workshop is to help parents learn how to nurture and support their children during and after their divorce.
