This course is designed for business owners, managers, accountants, bankers and consultants who need to know how to turn financial statements into useful management tools. During this course, you will learn to identify key business information that is captured on the income statement and balance sheet. You will learn to calculate several ratios and understand what those ratios mean in terms of business productivity and success. You will leave this session with a greater understanding of how to read and interpret financial documents and how to use that information to drive business decisions.

Stay Strong Stay Healthy Level 2, is an advancement of SSSH Level 1. This event takes place on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Pettis County MU Extension Center. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 (Miller County) (Session 8 of 17)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 is a strength training program based on research by Tufts University to help men and women increase strength, flexibility and balance. Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 program is designed to provide access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program for middle age and older adults. During each session, a set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done, along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Nixa STEAM Camp (Session 2 of 4)

Description:

Christian County 4-H is partnering with the Christian County Library to provide fun and interactive activities focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math for youth entering 3rd through 5th grades. Each child may register for one day of the four-day event. There will be a morning activity and an afternoon activity. Drop off is between 10:30 and 11:00 AM and pick up between 2:00 and 2:30 PM. Children will need to bring a sack lunch and parents/guardians will be required to sign a liability release. Registration is limited to 16 children per day and is first come, first serve, so sign up early!

Session topic:

Youth will learn about Super Structures with Mad Science in the morning and a hands-on activity about pollination of honeybees in the afternoon.

Cooking Matters-Richland (MOCA) (Session 5 of 6)

Description:

Cooking Matters is a 6-session culinary-based nutrition education program that is delivered through; powerful, engaging lessons featuring hands-on learning that include group discussion with instructors. Program Goal: This program’s main goals are: 1. to provide knowledge and skills to help seniors prepare food at home more, and become aware of the negative health behaviors associated with obesity and sedentary lifestyles. The primary objectives are to teach: (1) Cooking tips and techniques; (ii) tips for proper food safety; (iii) storage and sanitation; (iv) nutrition and health information to ensure optimal health; (v) budgeting -stretching food dollars and maximizing resources; (vi) tips to get families to try new foods; and (vii) shopping healthfully on a limited budget. The program evaluates participants at week 1 and week 6 and behavior changes occur consistently in all individuals.
