Discovery Day is an opportunity for area children to learn about a variety of topics from health to conservation. The event will be held at the visitors center at Mark Twain Lake.

Session topic:

Learn about healthy snacks and how to prevent accidental poisonings in your home. MU Extension is providing a learning booth at "Discovery Day" at Mark Twain Lake.

Advanced Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (Session 5 of 10)

The Advanced class is for those who have completed a Stay Strong, Stay Healthy class or have been strength training regularly for six months or longer. The advanced class includes more complex upper and lower body strengthening exercises, core body exercises, and balance movements.

Walk With Ease-Nevada (Session 14 of 18)

Walk With Ease program is designed to help participants become a knowledgeable, conficent arthritis self-manager--that is, a person who can take acion to ease arthritis symptoms and maintain your overall fitness and quality of life. Walk With Ease may be different from other walking programs you know about, because it offers a structured program that has been tested and proven to benefit those who complete it. Walk With Ease is shown to reduce the pain aand discomfort of arthritis and increase balance, strength, and walking pace.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (Session 5 of 10)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is a strength training program developed by Tufts University to help men and women increase strength, flexibility and balance. Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase middle age and older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Cedar County Share the Fun Night

When:  Friday, May 3, 2013, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Where:  
El Dorado Springs Middle School Mulit-Purpose Room

Description:

An annual event that includes royalty coronation and talent show.
TALENT SHOW: Each club is invited to present two talents or two skits, or one talent and one skit. Skits are judged and all receive a ribbon (blue, red, or white). The top two (2) skits are presented at a regional event. Skits should be 3 - 5 minutes long. Skit may be pantomime, lip sync, original play, or individual talent. Adults may provide accompaniment. Clover Kids may participate just for fun but are not eligible to be in club skits for county competition. Skits must be pre-entered by the county deadline please. Props and scenery are encouraged.
COUNTY ROYALTY: Each club is invited to select up to six candidates in the appropriate age groups to participate in the royalty contest. Candidates must be members in good standing and must not have won in their age category for prior years. A score sheet is sent to the office by the deadline. Interviews are held and one winner in each of the 6 categories is selected. Queen, Princess, and Junior Princess receive flowers and tiaras. King, Prince and Junior Prince receive boutonnieres and belt buckles. Sponsors are used for flowers, buckles, etc. Royalty are 4-H ambassadors during the year and are invited to promote 4-H at a variety of events.

All forms are due by April 19th to the Extension Office. Royalty interviews will be held on April 29th at the Stockton Courthouse.  more...

Teen Extravaganza

Description:

4-H Teens and friends from 10 counties and the city of St. Louis are invited to the 4-H Teen Extravaganza lock-in! Rescheduled because of bad weather in February, the program will be May 3-4, 10:00 pm – 6:00am at The Heights Community Center in Richmond Heights, MO. There will be swimming, games, pizza, sports and lots of fun!
