Management Intensive Grazing School

The Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District and partnering agencies, MU Extension, University of Central Missouri and Johnson County Farm Bureau are working together to put on a Regional Grazing School for livestock owners and managers in Johnson County and the surrounding areas. The school will be held starting at 8:30 a. m. on May 29th and last through 3:00 p. m. on May 30th in Warrensburg, Missouri at the shooting range building located on the University of Central Missouri Prussing Farm. The school will cover a variety of topics related to livestock and grassland management, including the following: Art and Science of Grazing Management, Soil Fertility and Forage Availability, Layout and Design of Grazing Systems, Grazier’s math, Livestock Nutrition and Forage Quality, Economics of Grazing Management and Evaluation of Farm Resources. School activities will include presentations on these topics as well as farm visits to view existing managed grazing systems and to conduct field exercises. Lunch will be provided to participants both days.

Cooking Matters for Diabetics (Session 6 of 6)

A strength training program for middle-aged and older adults. The programs goal is to improve health and quality of life. Exercise sessions to improve strength and balance include warm-up exercises, strengthening exercises and cool-down stretches. An orientation and pre-assessment precede nine weeks of exercise sessions, and the program concludes with a post-assessment.

Introduction to class, workshop overview. Each class is organized to include: Health Education, Joint check warm-up, Exercises for 35 minutes to include: Range of Motion & strengthening, Balance, endurance exercises; cool down and relaxation.
