Where:
Phelps COunty Extension Center
Courthouse, 200 N. Main, Rolla MO map...

Annual, perennial, native wildflowers, and native trees and shrub seed propagation will also be covered in this lecture.
Offered to help beginner and experienced gardeners understand the science behind successfully starting plants indoors by seed.

Whether you are using seeds bought from a nursery catalogue, or seeds collected from your own garden, starting seeds indoors can be a rewarding investment of time and resources. Plants grown by seed indoors in a greenhouse, cold frame, or under grow lights inside a home, offer the benefits of early maturing plants and harvests, better weed competition, healthier less vulnerable plants to pests, and less manual thinning of plants. Seed collecting, storing, and starting, is both and art and a science. To be successful, it is important to have the right knowledge and tools to perform the job in a precise, diligent, and scheduled manner.

Seed anatomy, seed germination, seed sowing, transplanting, and seed storage techniques, including a take home example of three different types of seeds with three different seed germination techniques.
