When: Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District, University of Missouri Extension, and Miller Seed Company, Inc. of Clinton, MO are working together to conduct the upcoming 68th Annual Soil and Water Conservation District Meeting featuring a Cover Crops Workshop. The meeting will be held in the afternoon and evening of February 12, 2013.
The meeting will begin at 4:00 p. m. at Buckeye Acres, LLC. in Warrensburg, MO with presentations by Travis Harper, Henry County MU Extension Agronomy Specialist, on “Agronomic Benefits of Cover Crops” and Al Decker, Bates County MU Extension Livestock Specialist, on “Incorporating Cover Crops as Livestock Feed.”
The meeting will then move to the Johnson County Fairgrounds meeting room in Warrensburg, MO where the free barbecued dinner, catered by Alewel’s Country Meats, will be at 6:00 p. m. Following the meal Kyle Meyer, Johnson County FSA CED, Angie Leonard, Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District Manager, and Diane Bradley – Redden, Johnson County NRCS District Conservationist, will present a “Brief Program Overview.” Then the keynote presentation will be given by Justin Ogle, GIS Specialist and Vice President of Record Harvest, on “Farming for a Season or a Lifetime?”
Also at the meeting there will be a drawing for door prizes donated by local agricultural businesses.
