The 3 hour class is designed to teach basic computer skills such as file management, navigation, and general operation. Classes offered at the ABCD Missouri Career Center in St. Joseph. Target audience is unemployed and under-employed
Session topic:
This session focuses on the basic functions of the XP operating system, Students will learn basic navigation, file management and operational tasks. Students will have a chance to set up an email account and navigate the Career Center web page.

Stay Strong. Stay Healthy. Advanced-Clinton (Session 10 of 10)

The goal of the Advanced SSSH program is to increase on the fitness base acquired from SSSH by adding new and more challenging exercises. Advanced SSSH is designed to challenge older adults in new and different ways, to help avoid staleness and plateaus, and to improve activities of daily living. This program features exercises using resistance from body weight, hand weights, and ankle weights. It also features balance exercises, core exercises, low back exercises, and flexibility exercises.
Session topic:
Participants will warm-up, complete two sets of a series of 9-10 strength training exercises and cool down. We will complete evaluation forms and post class assessments.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy, Clinton (Session 10 of 10)

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase aging adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Over the 10 weeks, participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
Session topic:
Participants will warm up, complete 2 sets of a series of 8 exercises and cool down. Evaluation and post class assessments will be conducted

Cooking Matters (Session 6 of 6)

Cooking Matters is a 6 session program that provides education in nutirtion and basic food preparation techniques. Participants prepare and eat a complete meal during each session.

Each session provides a nutrition lesson and cooking instuction based on the nutrition topic discussed.

2.5 hour workshop includes didactic lecture based on current best practices and research as well as viewing and discussing divorce vignettes likely to come up for the families.
