Building Better Child Care--Northland Early Educ Council (Session 3 of 8)

The Northland Early Education Council (NEEC) board is comprised of representatives of Northland community agencies, organizations, school districts and early childhood programs. The primary mission and purpose of NEEC is to plan, provide and promote educational events and training sessions for professionals and para-professionals who provide care and education to young children. A secondary goal is to serve as an advocacy group for quality, assessible and affordable child care, especially in the Clay, Platte and Ray County area of the Northland.
Session topic:
The Northland Early Education Council (NEEC) board meets on a regular basis to share program updates, discuss public policy and advocacy issues and to plan educational training events for the early childhood community.

Membership on the NEEC board is open to any individual who is involved in the field of early care and education; whether directly or indirectly.

The goal of the Advanced SSSH program is to increase on the fitness base acquired from SSSH by adding new and more challenging exercises. Advanced SSSH is designed to challenge older adults in new and different ways, to help avoid staleness and plateaus, and to improve activities of daily living. This program features exercises using resistance from body weight, hand weights, and ankle weights. It also features balance exercises, core exercises, low back exercises, and flexibility exercises.
Session topic:
Class members will warm-up, complete 2 sets of a series of 9-10 exercises and then cool down.

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase aging adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Over the 10 weeks, participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
Session topic:
Warm-up, two sets of 8 strength-training exercises and cool-down will occur in this class.
