The University of Missouri Extension is offering the six-week workshop "Show Me Better Health" licensed by Stanford University. This workshop will teach persons with chronic conditions and their caregivers the tools needed to design their own self-management program so they can live a longer and healthier life. Workshop participants will learn tips on how to eat well and exercise; how to manage their symptoms; how to relax and handle difficult emotions; develop effective problem-solving skills; how to work well with their doctor; and how to manage their medications. They will receive a copy of the workshop manual, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions and a relaxation cd.

The first part of the 3 hour session will help to describe the positive and negative cycles of relationships that are based on respect and care versus those based on coercion/control/non-respect.
