    Making Money Count--Single Session

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (Session 4 of 17)

    This is a low-impact strength training program for people who are 50 or better. The class meets for 1 hour, twice a week for 8 weeks to complete a series of eight exercises with a warm-up and cool down. This program helps participants increase their physical activity which may improve strength, balance and flexibility, resulting in reduced risk for falls, better overall health and greater independence.

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 (Session 1 of 18)

    Description:

    Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) aims to provide inactive middle-aged and older adults with access to a safe, structured and effective exercise program capable of building muscle and increasing bone density, thus decreasing frailty, osteoporosis and the risk of falls. SSSH helps participants meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s physical activity recommendations.

    SSSH challenges participants through incremental increases in exercise volume and intensity. Led by a certified instructor, participants complete a warmup, a prescribed set of upper- and lower-body strengthening exercises and a cool-down at each class. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

    Winter Feeding Program (Survining the Drought) (Session 2 of 4)

    The program inspires increased economic development and social viability in rural Missouri.

    This winter will be a challenge in 2019 as the drought of 2018 has left its mark on the cattle industry in Missouri. This three-hour program is designed to address the winter pasture situation, the utilization of hay and grain to offset shortages, as well as meeting the needs of your cattle in their current condition. Topics covered will include but not be limited to pasture condition, types of hay, hay quality, hay testing, reading and understanding your hay test, feeding to meet the needs of your cattle, as well as making it to next spring’s grass as economically as possible. Remember not all cattle are treated equally and you may overfeeding / underfeeding without even knowing it.
