The Ice House Entrepreneurship Program combines classroom and online coursework to teach 8 essentials of an entrepreneurial mindset using the business canvass process to inspire and engage participants. Hearing from unlikely yet successful entrepreneurs, participants will learn to evaluate business opportunities from a practical method inspired by the life story of Clifton Taulbert.

This course is a revolutionary new learning program designed to inspire and engage participants in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset and the unlimited opportunities it can provide. The overall objective is to empower learners through entrepreneurial thinking and immerse them in entrepreneurial experiences that will enable them to develop entrepreneurial skills. With market testing, you will also be using a canvas tool to test assumptions rather than utilizing traditional business planning.

This is a low-impact strength training program for people who are 50 or better. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is an eight-week strength training program for middle-aged and older adults. The program’s goal is to improve health and quality of life. The class will meet twice a week.

We will incorporate warm-up exercises; simple strengthening exercises, with or without weights; and cool down stretches. Weights are provided for the class. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring water bottle and towel.

Missouri's Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults; access to a safe structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Session topic:

Participants will complete a short warm-up, 8-10 strength training exercises, and a cool-down that includes stretching and deep breathing.

Stone County OACAC Neighborhood Center Health Insurance Education

The program is part of MU Extension’s Health Insurance Education Initiative. It will be presented by Dr. Amy Patillo, MU Extension community development specialist. “The Health Insurance Education Initiative will help Show-Me State citizens understand their health insurance options and learn how to get help in their own communities if they choose to enroll in Missouri’s health insurance marketplace,” said Brenda Procter, associate professor of consumer and family economics for MU Extension. A website, at extension.missouri.edu/insure, provides educational materials and links to information. “The website is a source to learn factual, unbiased information about the changes in health insurance that are required by the law,” Procter said. MU Extension’s Health Insurance Education Initiative website also provides a map of Missouri educators who can provide local workshops and a calendar where you can learn about upcoming events near you.

Making Money Count programs focus on strategies and techniques for using your money and other resources more effectively. Curriculum/program overview: Making Money Count addresses the need for financial management education. Making Money Count is a train-the-trainer curriculum, targeting and helping professionals who are working with people having money problems. Includes eight units: Making Decisions and Communicating About Money, Spending Plan, Credit, Consumer Skills and Contracts, Record Keeping and Taxes, Banking Services, Insurance, and Saving and Investing. Each unit includes additional resources to supplement learning, offer real life examples and reinforce the curriculum’s text. Resources include: activities, handouts, teaching outlines and PowerPoint presentations with detailed speaker notes. The curriculum is designed to be very flexible, allowing for use one-on-one or in group settings. The units can stand alone or be combined to provide a money management program or course.
