Relatives As Parents--Northland Grandfamilies (Session 5 of 24)

The Northland Grandfamilies program serves grandparents in Clay and Platte Counties who are raising their grandchildren. The program also serves aunts/uncles and other relatives who are raising children under the age of 18. The program seeks to raise awareness of the issues facing grandparents/aunts/uncles who are filling the parenting role. Advocacy, education and referral services are important aspects of the program. Support group meetings are scheduled twice a month, with guest speakers on topics of interest. The program is made possible by a partnership of the Clay County Extension Council, the Platte County Senior Fund and Clay County Senior Services.
Daytime support group meeting this month will feature guest speaker Heather Bradley, lead therapist with Synergy Services. Her topic is "Understanding Behavior and Setting Limits".
Any grandparent who is raising grandchildren age 18 or younger is welcome to participate in Northland Grandfamilies. The program is also open to aunts/uncles and other adult relatives who are raising children. The program is free of charge. Manage Your Financials—Don’t Let Them Manage You is designed for business owners, managers, accountants, bankers and consultants who need to know how to turn financial statements into useful management tools. During this course, you will learn to identify key business information that is captured on the income statement and balance sheet. You will learn to calculate several ratios and understand what those ratios mean in terms of business productivity and success. You will leave this session with a greater understanding of how to read and interpret financial documents and how to use that information to drive business decisions.

Responsibilities As Parents (RAP) is a court-mandated program in Platte County for never-married parents and parents who are involved in paternity establishment cases.
Responsibilities As Parents (RAP) is a 2-hour workshop for never-married parents and parents involved in paternity establishment cases. It is required for parents whose cases are filed in Platte County.
Parents whose cases are filed in Platte County must contact the Circuit Clerk's office at 816-858-1986 to register. Parents whose cases are filed in another county or out-of-state, but wish to take the class in Platte County must contact the University of Missouri Extension Center at 816-407-3490 for information on how to register.
