Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 FBC (Session 16 of 17)

This is a low-impact strength training program for people who are 50 or better. The class meets for 1 hour, twice a week for 8 weeks to complete a series of eight exercises with a warm-up and cool down. This program helps participants increase their physical activity which may improve strength, balance and flexibility, resulting in reduced risk for falls, better overall health and greater independence.

The SkillUP program offers SNAP recipients in Missouri the opportunity to gain skills, training or work experience. The SkillUP Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). SkillUP is offered at no cost to the participant and helps promote employability and self-sufficiency. This class includes a program on Your Money, Your Goal which looks at our money habits, communication, goal-setting and spending plans.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1- CCHW Swope Parkway (Session 8 of 16)

SSSH is an effective strength training program designed to increase strength, flexibility and balance in a safe, structured environment. Participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health. We encourage participants to attend 10 or more of the 16 total sessions. It is also encouraged that participants increase their weights as the class progresses to build strength in their muscles.

Stay Strong Stay Healthy Level 2 (Session 15 of 18)

Description:

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy–Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate

Whether planning ahead or making decisions when a loved one dies, this class will give you the resources you need to pass on personal possessions.  This program can help families understand the sensitivity of estate planning issues, determine what they want to accomplish when passing on personal possessions, decide what’s “fair” for their particular family, understand belongings have different meanings to different individuals, consider distribution options and consequences, and agree to manage conflicts if they arise.
