Organic Gardening Academy (Session 8 of 11)

Description:

The Greene County MU Extension office is pleased to host the 2014 Organic Gardening Academy. This series of classes related to organic gardening will present proven, science based techniques on a wide range of topics. Each class will include a presentation of the subject, followed by a hands-on demonstration of the techniques learned during the class. The speakers have a passion for organic gardening, and subject matter expertise.

Organic Gardening for Pollinators and Beneficial Insects

Registration:

The introductory class on April 17 is free. The registration fee for each following class is $20. A discounted rate of $180 is available for all 10 classes purchased as a package, if purchased by May 1, 2014. Hickory County Cattlemen's Bus Tour

When:  Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, 8 p.m. to Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, 8 p.m.

Iowa stops include Werner Family Angus, Inc. which features the Werner Feed Efficiency Testing Center; Hoover Angus, 2005 Angus Producer of the Year; Couser Cattle Company, 2010 winner of NCBA’s Environmental Stewardship Award; Summit Farms; diversified beef, pork and crop production company; Sievers Family Farms, monoslope confinement feeding and direct beef marketing. Illinois stops include Werner Angus Farms, spring and fall calving purebred producer; Tyson Fresh Meats plant tour; Lowderman Cattle Company, purebred Hereford operation; Toland’s River Oak Ranch, specializing in low input contract growing beef replacement heifers utilizing rotational grazing on tall fescue pastures.
