2014 North American Manure Expo (Springfield, MO)
When: Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 7:30 a.m. to Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 4 p.m.
Ozark Empire Fairgrounds
3001 N Grant Ave, Springfield MO map...
The two-day event will feature tours on July 8 to a pasture-based dairy for concrete tank and lagoon agitation demonstrations, and to a wastewater treatment facility featuring anaerobic digestion, nutrient management planning and field mapping.
On July 9, there will be solid and liquid application demonstrations, an equipment and trade show, and educational sessions. Speakers include several MU Extension specialists: agricultural engineer Joe Zulovich, economist Ray Massey, water quality specialist Bob Broz, and nutrient management specialist John Lory.
The 2014 North American Manure Expo will conclude with demonstrations on manure gas and safety, and manure spill response and management.
The expo offers practical demonstrations, classroom teaching, and the opportunity to interact with industry representatives and regulators. The expo is not just for producers; it is for everyone who works with nutrient management.
The expo rotates among states each year, and this is the first year Missouri is hosting the event.
Admission is free, but preregistration is required. For more information and to register for the expo, visit http://www.manureexpo.org. more...

Franklin County Exhibit Day
When: Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Franklin County Fair Grounds
4-H members display the items they have grown, raised, or made at the Franklin County Fair. Volunteers are recruited to judge the quality of items, or in some cases to interview the members about their item in a process called conference judging. Items are awarded a blue, red, or white ribbon, and the best blue ribbon items are selected to represent the county in the Missouri State Fair 4-H Building. 4-H members volunteer to help as judges assistants and to take exhibits from the registration table to the judges. Adults volunteer to help register exhibits, judge exhibits, and set up a state fair display. The items are displayed throughout the Franklin County Fair to demonstrate the achievement of county 4-H members to the general public.
Franklin County Fair 4-H Exhibit Day
Members must register their exhibit with the Franklin County MU Extension Center by June 20.
