ELEVATIONLAB™ NEW VENTURE

Description:

o you dream of owning your own business? Are you ready for a realistic perspective on whether or not people really want to buy what you want to sell? This program helps aspiring entrepreneurs look at all aspects of their business idea, exploring the feasibility of their new venture and learning how to develop a viable business. This business creation program is fast-paced, interactive, fun and energizing. The Small Business & Technology Development Center at UMKC (SBTDC) ELEVATIONLAB offers the program in an accelerated time frame to let potential entrepreneurs get started with their businesses as soon as possible. Guest speakers and entrepreneurs bring their real-world experience to make topics come alive. Participants develop their businesses through the group activities and coaching from professional business counselors. The class materials include FastTrac, GrowthWheel and other elements with step-by-step activities and in-depth information. Participants also have access to business plan and financial templates. You don't just learn about business, you work on your own business venture throughout the program.

Registration:

Scholarships may be available for Dislocated Workers or those that live or own a business in Kansas City, MO.

Livingston County Back to School Bonanza (10th Annual)

Description:

Welcome to the 10th Annual Back To School Bonanza! The purpose of this event is to provide health and safety information to Livingston County students who are in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Also, all students in attendance will receive a back pack with school supplies which are purchased through local community grants and donations. School supplies may only be picked up on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 between 3:30pm – 6:00pm during the Back to School Bonanza at the Calvary Baptist Church Family Life Center, 206 Locust Street. The Livingston County Back to School Bonanza is open to Livingston County residents only who are entering Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 2 (MU Campus Tue/Thurs @ 12pm) (Session 13 of 16)

Description:

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy–Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Boost Your Brain and Memory - East Prairie (Session 6 of 8)

Boost Your Brain and Memory is an eight-session class that uses a whole-person approach that helps you form new habits to live a healthier lifestyle, remember things better, be more organized, pay closer attention and regulate your emotions. Each participant will receive a workbook including memory exercises, tips on nutrition and exercise, and summaries of evidence-based research on brain health.
